I am Michail (Mike) Kalaitzakis and I am currently a PhD candidate at the Unmanned Systems and Robotics Lab at the University of South Carolina working under the supervision of Dr. Nikos Vitzilaios. My research focuses on autonomous UAS infrastructure inspection. My goal is to develop a platform that will be able to safely inspect a structure without disrupting its normal operation.

Before that, I worked for 4 years as a Research Engineer at Medotics with the Emmetrolexia group. There, I designed and developed a desktop Eye-Tracker for use as a screening test for dyslexia and other learning difficulties. I was responsible for the hardware and software design, while I was part of the team that collected and analyzed the data for the classification algorithm.

I finished my Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. I worked on my Thesis titled "Communication and Visual Servoing control of a Quadrotor UAV" at the Control Systems Lab in Prof. Kyriakopoulos's group.
